If your laptop was originally installed with Windows® 8.1 or if it was upgraded from Windows® 8, then this recovery disk set is exactly what you need to reinstall or repair your operating system and update all your drivers. You will very likely not even need a product key if your PC was supplied to with Windows 8 or 8.1 already installed. This Windows® 8.1 reinstall will automatically retrieve your product key from your BIOS and activate it during the recovery process. If you have previously upgraded from Windows® 8, then you can use your original Windows® 8 product key to active Windows® 8.1. 

You will also need to decide what edition of Windows® 8.1 was originally installed, as your product key will only activate the edition of Windows® 8.1 that was originally on your system.
